Course Curriculum

Our SIA Door Supervisor courses are structured into four components:

Part 1: Pre-course Distance Learning – Independent study before the course commencement.

Part 2: Theoretical Instruction – Classroom sessions covering foundational knowledge.

Part 3: Practical Assessment – Classroom-based evaluations of practical skills.

Part 4: Multiple-Choice Examination – Classroom-based testing to assess understanding.

The course curriculum encompasses four compulsory units:

Unit 1: Principles of the Private Security Industry Work

Understanding the core characteristics and objectives of the Private Security Industry Comprehending pertinent legislation applicable to security operatives Familiarity with arrest protocols relevant to security roles Emphasising the importance of safety protocols in the workplace Understanding workplace fire procedures Managing emergencies and adhering to emergency protocols Effective communication techniques for security operatives Maintaining accurate records pertinent to security duties Recognising terrorist threats and the security operative’s role during such situations Ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals Implementing best practices for post-incident management

Unit 2: Principles of Door Supervision in the Private Security Industry

Understanding crimes relevant to door supervision Proficiency in conducting thorough search procedures Familiarity with drug-misuse legislation, concerns, and procedures in the context of door supervision Preserving evidence as per the responsibilities of a door supervisor Understanding licensing laws pertinent to door supervision Managing queues and ensuring venue capacity compliance as a door supervisor Competency in utilising relevant equipment for door supervision

Unit 3: Conflict Management Application in the Private Security Industry

Grasping the principles of conflict management suitable for security roles Recognising, evaluating, and mitigating risks in conflict scenarios Utilising problem-solving techniques for conflict resolution Effective communication strategies for de-escalating conflicts

Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills Application in the Private Security Industry

Understanding the legal and professional implications of physical intervention Assessing and minimising risks associated with physical intervention Proficiency in utilising physical skills for self-protection and protecting others Competence in using non-pain compliant standing, holding, and escorting techniques

To enroll in the course, all participants must be 18 years of age or older.

As per SIA regulations, training centres are obligated to verify that each learner possesses adequate qualifications in First Aid or Emergency First Aid. Therefore, prospective candidates must demonstrate possession of a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the standards outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The First Aid or Emergency First Aid certification must remain valid for a minimum of 12 months from the course commencement date.

Prior to commencing the SIA Door Supervisor training, you are required to furnish Heart & Soul Community Training with your valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate.

In the event that you do not possess a valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate, we can provide you with an Emergency First Aid Training Course.

To successfully complete the SIA Door Supervisor course, you will need to undertake four electronic assessments consisting of multiple-choice questions.

For Unit 1 – Principles of working in the private security industry, you will need to respond to 72 multiple-choice questions within a time frame of 1 hour and 50 minutes. The passing score is set at 51 questions.

For Unit 2 – Principles of working as a door supervisor in the private security industry, you will need to answer 50 multiple-choice questions within 1 hour and 15 minutes. A minimum of 35 questions must be answered correctly to pass.

For Unit 3 – Application of conflict management in the private security industry, you will encounter 20 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 30 minutes. A passing score requires correctly answering at least 14 questions.

For Unit 4 – Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry, you will be presented with 30 multiple-choice questions to be addressed within 45 minutes. To pass this unit, you need to correctly answer a minimum of 24 questions.

Our policy ensures that there is no fee for retaking the exam if you do not pass on your initial attempt – a principle we refer to as “NO PASS – NO RETAKE FEE.” You are entitled to two retakes without any additional charge. With a pass rate exceeding 95%, you can trust in our commitment to your success.

Exam results will be made available on the same day.

To apply for the SIA badge. There is an additional cost of £190 which is paid directly to the Security Industry Authority (SIA). If you’re applying for your second badge it’ll be half price at £95.00
