About the Course
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Training is designed for individuals aspiring to become workplace First Aiders.
The curriculum encompasses essential knowledge regarding the duties and obligations of a first aider, incident assessment techniques, and identification of injury and illness indicators. Moreover, the qualification includes training in critical first aid procedures such as CPR, operation of an AED, and providing assistance to casualties experiencing severe injuries and illnesses like chest and spinal injuries, as well as anaphylaxis.
Course Curriculum
This accredited First Aid at Work (FAW) course, endorsed by Highfields Qualifications, is tailored to individuals seeking to fulfill the role of a workplace first-aider.
Key topics covered in the course include:
- Understanding the duties and obligations of a first-aider.
- Safely assessing emergency situations.
- Performing CPR and utilising an AED.
- Providing aid to a choking casualty.
- Managing shock, burns, scalds, bleeding, and minor injuries.
- Handling casualties with fractures, as well as spinal, head, or chest injuries.
- Responding to heart attacks, strokes, and other significant illnesses
All learners must be 16 + years of age.
Assessment for this qualification is conducted through graded pass/fail evaluations for each component:
Practical observation: This assessment evaluates learners’ practical first aid skills, which are demonstrated throughout the course.
Multiple-choice theory assessment: Candidates must respond to a series of multiple-choice questions, with each element requiring a passing score.
The course duration spans 3 days, with each day comprising 6 hours of instruction, excluding breaks.
Our policy ensures that there is no fee for retakes if you do not pass the exam, following a “No Pass – No Retake Fee” approach. With a pass rate exceeding 95%, we aim to support your success.
You can expect to receive your exam results within 7 to 14 working days.
